Recovery Innovations Peer Support (forming)
This is a start-up program for the City of Chesapeake, VA which has no current peer-led program like this. Dedicated to helping others with mental illness and to developing innovative ways on the road to recovery. New technology and peer-led understandings of recovery have the potential to change the way clients and professionals relate and engage in the healing process. Too many people fail treatment because of a lack of understanding and ability to communicate from both perspectives. Peer-led programs stand in the gap to help professionals understand their clients and help clients communicate their needs in such a way that others understand so that their needs are met. A peer-led program also assists with advocacy and social resources to keep people safe, to develop tools and social networking systems that provide members with a support system they may not have otherwise.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan Groups
Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is a plan you create for yourself to take control of your own wellness. It is a tool to help you manage your symptoms instead of your symptoms managing you. You can learn to create your own plan in a group led by your peers. At VOCAL we train people to lead these groups all across the state. To find out if there is a group in your area, please contact the VOCAL network:
